TheSkoolieLife.com Episode 25:

Installing aluminum storage

boxes under the bus

My skoolie will have a propane range and a propane water heater. It has a diesel heater and I expect I'll get a second one. I've known for a while that I was going to need a place on the skoolie to store the propane tanks and diesel fuel tanks. For reasons of safely and convenience. neither should go in the passenger compartment, even under the bed. I could probably find space on the rear bumper, but that also seems dangerous in a crash. I found a great deal on aluminum toolboxes, and bought four of them to install under the bus. Together they should provide enough storage space for the propane tanks, and jerry jugs holding diesel and gas. These boxes aren’t tall enough to hold a standard 20Lb tanks (shown on the left below) but are perfect for 11Lb tanks shown on the right. I also designed a custom holder the keep the tank from moving around: Installing these boxes is a challenge. For starters I had to cut out a 3 foot wide section of the “skirt” under the floor: To see how I attached the boxes, click the image below to see episode 25 on my YouTube channel.
