TheSkoolieLife.com Episode 34:

Framing the Walls

The best insulation for the ceiling and walls of a skoolie is spray foam. It has a high R-Value per inch and forms its own vapour barrier. I’ll be hiring someone to apply it. But before the process can begin, I have to add wooden framing so that there is material for the finished walls to attach to. While one could attach the finished walls to the metal ribs of the bus, it is preferable to screw into wood to maintain a thermal break. It also allows for a deeper layer of insulation. So I glued and screwed 2x2s to each rib of the bus under the windows. I also framed in the wheel wells, the water heater the diesel inlet and the fresh water inlet.
