TheSkoolieLife.com Episode 22:
Building a portable entertain-
ment center
The bus is in a body shop as of this writing. (More on that in the
next episode.) To use this time constructively, I’ve been working
on a project not bolted down to the bus.
In the last episode I put together a 2.1 stereo sound system
permanently installed in the front of the bus. But there are times
when you want to listen to music or watch a video while sitting at
the dinette, preparing a meal at the kitchen counter or sitting
outside. I happened to have an older 10” Android tablet with a
tinny little internal speaker, and a decent sounding Bose speaker
like this one. I mounted them on a board, along with the wiring
to keep them both charged when the entertainment center is
near a 12 volt outlet. (Both devices have internal batteries, and
so can be used when no power source is available.)
I look forward to using it on the bus when I resume construction
inside it. In the meantime it’s proven to be useful on the patio at
home, and at the cottage where I’m writing this.
