Episode 1 - Getting my CDL
A CDL is a commercial driver’s license. Before I bought my bus I
had only a basic Ontario class G driver’s license - the kind you
need to drive a car. I planned to buy a bus far from home, in a
locale either so hot or so cold that they don’t salt the roads, so I
could avoid buying a rusty bus. While driving it home the bus
would be considered a commercial vehicle. I didn’t want to
make that drive with just a G license.
In addition, I’d never driven a bus before. I wanted to learn from
the pros how to drive them safely. I learned a lot from my
teachers at the Ontario Truck Driving School, and they got me
through the exams successfully.
